About Lara

Welcome! My name is Lara Kulpa, and I am an illustrator, pattern surface designer, and all-around mess-maker based in beautiful upstate New York in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. Amongst other things, of course.

I am madly in love with bright colors in my art, however, I’ve been known to put out some neutrals here and there. I’ve been experimenting quite a bit with black and white lately, but somehow always wind up just going nuts with crazy color and pattern!

Currently, I’ve got a variety of work out there, between home decor and accessories, to printable planner pages and some sculptural art. I’m looking to work on more pattern design, illustration, and stationery projects in the near future.

I am always looking for new clients to collaborate with, and would love to hear from you!

So, what’s art by lara, in business terms?

Art by Lara, LLC is my all-encompassing business name, above and beyond just my art.

It is its own animal, with lots of fledglings and projects flittering about, such as #LifeGlitter, Raven & Muse PLR, and even my professional, not-so-artsy hub, Lara Kulpa Consulting. I also have several shops on various sites and do all kinds of side projects, client work, and freelance writing.

I told you I was an artist “amongst other things”.

A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT ME…
(In no particular order)

  • I live in my father’s childhood home with my husband, our daughter (who loves to arty hard with her mama), three cats, and Punkin the guinea pig.

  • I went to college to become a zookeeper, and my first zoo job was at Lion Country Safari in Okeechobee, FL.

  • Previous “day jobs” I’ve had: Marketing Director, 911 Dispatcher, Web designer, SEO specialist, Copywriter, web community manager, and professional blogger.

  • I once did a belly-flop onto a 14-foot alligator who had escaped her enclosure.

  • At one point in my life, I thought I wanted to be a fighter pilot.

  • At 15, I spent 6 weeks with a host family in Italy that took me all over the country. I would LOVE to go back someday.

  • I’m addicted to sushi, chocolate, and coffee.

  • If I could only choose one musician to listen to for the rest of my life, it would have to be Michael Jackson.

  • I would also be very upset if I only could choose just one. My taste ranges from Beethoven to Bruno Mars and everything in-between.

  • My favorite human being in the whole world is my daughter. Sometimes I wish I could be like her when I grow up, and she’s only 9 years old. <3 Check out her non-profit Creating Hope Foundation, Inc. to see what she’s up to!
